New year, new OS. I have some experience with GNU/Linux, I used Ubuntu sometimes and Debian (always in my heart) so, I know the basic. I always tried to use others distros and I don’t know.. don’t match with me. Since 2012 I’ve seen about Linux Mint and I thought like “just a distro for noobs.. a real man use Archlinux or something like that.” but this thought is soooo wrong.
When I use Windows I don’t feel safe, so Linux is the best option for me. Free, Secure and Beautiful, you just have to study sometimes (nowadays you don’t have to do that) and you’re free. I was decided to install Ubuntu and be happy, but I always have so many problems with Ubuntu and I think he doesn’t match with me (I know that Mint is based in Ubuntu and Debian).
So, I decided to install this distro “for noobs” and.. I love it so much. Its clean, beautiful, you have the freedom to do what you want and personalize in the way that you want. Its ready to use when you finish the install. I just don’t wanna fix some bugs or something when I start the system, I just wanna use it. And Mint bring it to me. I don’t have to do something that I really don’t know to use something basic, like, I’m a casual user, I just use the computer to use the internet and learn my programming stuff.
Linux Mint can bring the casual users to Linux, and doing that can open the market to us and we finally can escape from the hands of Windows or Microsoft when you have to use something that you just find there. I mean, you already can do that with Wine, but sometimes wine doesn’t work really good.
Finishing, I don’t know if I’ll go back to Windows sometime (I like to play games, and its hard in Linux but I’ll try PlayOnLinux sometime to see what happens) but I definitely trust in Linux Mint, distros like that can be a real revolution to Linux and to the Market.
